This is one of the most asked questions in MMA today and with good reasons a good high kick that is executed properly can easily cause a knock out to your opponent. This is one of the reasons why everyone wants to learn how to kick higher. It wont take long for you to see results if you put the work and effort in which to tell you the truth isn’t a lot it is mostly just being dedicated to practice everyday.
Get Hot
So the easiest way to stretch is when your hot and no I don’t mean the attractive kind of hot I mean the after you have just been for a run kind of hot. Now you don’t need to go for a run you could just do a quick sprint even in your backyard a couple of times.
Start off with some Stretches
Now to start off with the splits style stretch until you really start to feel it and you don’t want to go down anymore and hold that for roughly one minute. Then turn to the side and hold it for thirty seconds and turn to the other side and hold onto that for thirty seconds. Now go back to the splits style stretch and hold that for another minute or so this time you should be able to go lower. After this shake your legs out for thirty seconds or so.
Rising Kicks
Now it is time to start doing some rising kicks. Start out doing ten front rising kicks of one leg going as high as you can without injuring yourself then swap legs. Then after you have done that go onto side rising kicks doing ten off each leg then lastly go onto back rising kicks again doing ten off each leg.
Other Tips
Now it is a good idea to do some squats and some one legged squats as sometimes the only reason you can’t kick higher is because your supporting leg isn’t strong enough. Also it is a very good idea to do some core training especially if you want to get those turning kicks and side kicks a lot higher.
So today I thought I would do something different for you guys so instead of the usual talk about MMA I thought I would review a martial arts movie that I enjoyed watching every second of it. That being said I have still seen better Martial Arts movies but this portrayed a real story to it not just some fluff.
Summary of the Movie
This is one of those movies where you cant miss any of it so if you need to go to the toilet make sure you stop the movie. It is basically about a man that grew up not being allowed to learn Wushu because he had bad asthma but despite his fathers wishes he decides to learn it anyway. He soon becomes a master and wins every fight he gets involved in. But although packed with action that these days only Jet Li can deliver it isn’t all just about a few kicks and punches like I said earlier this movie has a hidden message. And that message was control which it takes almost the whole movie for the character to learn this. As he usually just ended up doing the final blow and killing his opponents but towards the end he learns the power of control and stops just before the finale blow making him a true martial artist.
Why Watch This Movie?
One of the main reasons why you should watch this movie is because it is good. Simple as that it is just genuinely a great movie well I think so anyway. It may not be the best movie to watch if you just want to blob out as it can be a little
Although you can be seriously hurt in the partaking of MMA but most of the time it is a lot safer than other contact sports. There has only ever been two people die from MMA ever. Plus it is known that the two people that died already had physical ailments which ultimately played a huge factor in the reason why they died. Although you occasionally hear of a broken bone or two those usually heal to being almost back to 100% normal. Now lets take a look at some of the contact sports that get to go under the radar of the public eye because they are complaining about MMA.
Football
Yes that is right Football has the one of the biggest causality and fatality rate’s in today’s modern sports. So far on record it has killed 325 Boys and Men in the last 26 years although not all of these deaths happen on the field but it is still a lot of deaths compared to the two that have been killed in MMA.
Ice Hockey
When you watch a decent game of Ice Hockey you will almost always see someone get injured in the name of their sport. Here is one example how hockey players can get seriously injured. On the ice they can reach a speed of up to twenty five miles an hour but we will say that their average is fifteen miles an hour now if you have two people both going into each other that is a thirty mile an hour crash for both of them. There have also been cases where an unlucky hockey player has been hit with a frozen puck in the chest and has ended up dieing.
Boxing
This is the most dangerous contact sport in the world at the moment yet it doesn’t cop anything near what MMA does for people being in danger. Here is just a little example of how boxing is more dangerous then MMA. The average boxing glove is 16oz which is build to protect the boxers hand not the opponents face. This in turn allows the puncher to do more punches as the other boxer gets more and more blows. Where as a typical MMA glove weighs in at a little four ounces which means that it protects both the puncher and it also won’t harm his opponent.
