Alternatives To MMA
Although you will not be finding any sport quite like MMA for quite some time there are still many different Martial Arts that you can learn and you can also fight in usually well tournaments. This is a great way of getting started in MMA because as people always say you have to learn to crawl before you walk basically meaning that you should start out with an easier sport learn all the techniques and then learn and fight in MMA. I am not trying to say that you can not do MM before you have done any other sorts of Martial Arts but it is a very good idea as if you do not know what you are doing in MMA it can potentially be a brutally painful experience.
Tae Kwon Do
Now there are two different types of Tae Kwon Do WTF and ITF. WTF stands for World Tae Kwon Do Federation whereas ITF stands for International Tae Kwon Do Federation. ITF was the original of the two and then the Korean Government made WTF to overtake ITF. Although WTF focuses on foot techniques more than ITF it is considered more of a fitness thing more than a Martial Art. But ITF is considered more of a Martial Art then fitness training. But both are considered quite a weak Martial Art unless you are doing it for many years.
Kung Fu And Wushu
These both originate from China and are quite possibly the oldest Martial Arts ever but they are also the most powerful. They were invented in there early stages up to 4000 years ago for the Chinese army to use. Although there are hundreds of different styles they all branch out from the same tree and have just been changed a little bit along the way. But let me make this clear they are a very serious and strict Martial Art but if you ever get into a fight with someone and if you know Kung Fu or Wushu they better watch out as there will be little stopping you.
Karate
Right you knew it was coming Karate is quite possibly the most well known Martial Art in the world. It originates from Japan and incorporates a little bit of everything from punching, to knife hands (formally known as the Karate Chop), kicking and even thrusting techniques. It helped propel the use of Martial Arts in western films and nowadays it is hard to see a movie without a little bit of Karate included.
